Whenever I walk past this building at night, I think of Frank Herbert's Dune trilogy where the people of the planet Arrakis exist with so little water. I see the giant sandworms! The continued heat and absence of rain here in Austin, Texas brought this photo, and Dune, to mind.

I fracture this,
hammer to stone,
to see sparks fly
to smell air
before lightning strikes
to feel snowflakes
sting the skin
to break your
soft everpresence
and know passion
in the flicker of light
off the wing
of a bird in flight
